Welcome

This is my very first post.

I would like to introduce myself.

I have been working in Retail for nearly 20 years, and a customer for a little bit longer.

Starting as a Saturday Girl in my local independent boutique and over the years working for some of the biggest brands and stores in the industry i have found myself back where i stared with in a small chain boutique.

Now, with a first class degree and a masters under my belt I still chose the Retail sector to work in as, unlike a lot of my peers, I really do like even love customers and the interaction   that come with being on the shop floor.

Over the years I have picked up some good stories, advice and learnt a lot! Now i want to share how to get the best from your shopping experience, because the best customer service really is saved for the best customers.

Think of it as a little bit of therapy, a gift from me to you.

Let’s start at the beginning.

When I say the beginning, I mean the start of the day. Pre-Opening Time.

So you are in a rush to get somewhere and you notice that your local boutique has the light on and the staff are there…you want to pick up a gift / new blouse as you’ve just spilt coffee on the one you are wearing an feel like a early morning treat.

Belive me on this, we do want to sell you something, it’s half the reason we go to work, and it’s the whole point of the shop. But…pre-opening is our time, we are not paid to be there, it’s the time we choose to give to get ourselves ready and prepared for the day ahead.

The trick is to get what you want.

Now, all you need to do is to get the door open and in the shop, this is where you have to do the work, the rest is our job.

  1. Smile, Science says the feel good neurotransmitters dopamine, endorphins and serotonin are all released when a smile flashes across your face. Smiling really is infectious, and we know you’re not here to complain
  2. Please don’t rattle the door, it makes an awful noise and rattles us too
  3. When we approach the door, say thank you
  4. Let us know what you need, ‘I need a gift for a party that starts in 10 minutes’

You’re in!

Gift wrap offered,  thanked for your custom and off on your day.

Easy, Right!?
